Description

A lonely lighthouse stands atop a rocky island amidst a turbulent sea under a cloudy sky. Waves crash against the solitary islet, which provides a vital navigational aid to mariners. About a mile off of the coast near Cannon Beach, Oregon stands the Tillamook Lighthouse which was completed in 1881 but hasn't been used since 1957. Because of the storms in the area and the dangerous journey out to rock and the hazardous conditions while on the rock it has become known as "Terrible Tilly".
